On the first, second and fourth floors of the new Fire Department Headquarters, there
are exhibition rooms devoted to disaster prevention equipment. Documents and fire fighting
tools from Edo to early Showa are on display, including water guns, the 'original' fire
extinguisher; hand pumps with dragon-shaped heads; small and large hand pumps; 'gandou';
'tetobi'; fire hooks; Keshifuda; bugles; fire bells; pails; fire department flags; command
flags; watch tower signs; and quilted protective clothing.
There are also demonstration videos, models of the building's fire fighting facilties
and a hands-on 'fire prevention corner'. At the Department's east branch, more equipment
is being prepared for exhibit. |
