Honmachi 3-chome, affectionately called 'Promenade No. 3', is a 'street of sculpture'.
In an effort to create a fun street with a historical and cultural slant, the Honmachi
3-chome Shopping Arcade Promotion Union installed three aluminum creations by new sculptor
Kenichi Shimada (based in Tokyo) on the arcade's sidewalks in June, 1989.
The sculptures, each about 1.5 meters high and mounted on a granite base, are titled
'Heart of the Wind', 'Fabric of the Sun' and 'Gate of the New Wind'. |
