It is not known when 'ShinseiryuYamatoKagura' was first communicated to Shirataki
Shrine; however, almost all the traditional masks are believed to be from the Edo period.
At one time the 'regional eldest brother' inherited the Kagura, but in 1962 a preservation
society (chairman Usaburo Imaizumi) consisting mostly of young volunteers was established.
The group performs the dance at Shirataki Shrine Festival held August 6 and 7. In 1974,
'ShinseiryuYamatoKagura' became an intangible cultural asset of the city. |
