'Tree-Giving' is the work song of 'Tobi' firemen. In March, 1989, it was designated an
intangible cultural asset by the city and inherited by the 16 members of Kiryuu
Tree-Giving Preservation Society's 'Kiryuu Voice'.
After practising for months at their regular monthly meeting, the Kiryuu 'Tobi'
Firefighters' Union and their successors, the Kiryuu Young 'Tobi' Firefighters'
Association, announced they would sing 'Tree-Giving', wave the firemen's standard, and
actually demonstrate the footwork used on the job at Kiryuu Meiji Hall, November, 1993, to
coincide with that venue's 'Kiryuu Tree-Giving' exhibit. |
