「出土物資料」桐生女子高校

　戦後、川内町三丁目の「千網谷戸(ちあみがいと)遺跡」を中心に先駆的な発掘調査をつづけた故園田芳夫教諭が発掘、収集した考古資料のうち、他へ寄託された以外の出土物を保存している。

　遺跡は渡良瀬川と山田川が合流する河岸段丘にあり、出土物の中の「大型耳飾り」など３２９７点が国の重文に指定されている。。

　After the war, teacher Yoshio Sonoda (deceased) continued his pioneering excavation work, focusing on the Chiamigaito ruins in Kawauchi-cho 3-chome.

　The objects he uncovered and collected that were not entrusted to other institutions are preserved here. The ruins are located on a riverbank at the confluence of the Watarase and Yamada rivers; 3297 of the items excavated, including some large ear ornaments, have been designated important national cultural assets.
