Mr. Shimoyama makes unique hand-blown glasswork, mostly art nouveau pieces such as
vases, cups, stained glass, and lampshades. Until recently, he held private exhibitions in
Tokyo and Kiryuu.
"I think glass art is a struggle between gravity and natural temperatures. I'm
fascinated by the beauty of fragile objects", says Mr.Shimoyama, who has plans to
build a new studio.
