'Kiryuu Round Table', founded in 1900 by a group headed by 40 Bank president, Syusaku
Mori, was the predecessor of 'Kiryuu Club', a non-profit organization established in 1917.
'Peace, happiness and friendliness' is the slogan of the club, a type of meeting place for
city residents uncommonly found in the region's cities.
The club's activities include holding lectures and publishing books on Kiryuu's
history and other topics. The hall housing 'Kiryuu Club' was designed by architect, Iwao
Kiyomizu, introduced to the club by the Kiryuu-born founder of Kodansha, Seiji Noma, and
built in 1919. |
